Urgent Primary Care (OOH)

Modernising the GP Out of Hours Services

Modernising the GP Out of Hours Services

24 October 2019

Urgent Primary Care in the future will switch from a GP Provided Out of Hours Service to a GP led service and finally a GP Supervised service where the majority of care is provided by non GP clinicians.

We embrace this future model whereby the strength and knowledge of GPs serves to provide support and mentorship to our ever increasingly valuable Urgent Care Practitioners (UCPs) of all grades and from all backgrounds e.g. Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs), Advanced Paramedic Practitioners (APPs), Independent Pharmacist Prescriber (IPPs), and Physician Associates (PAs).

All will be welcomed and all will be supported to have an enjoyable, interesting, well-mentored and clinically varied career, utilising all skills and knowledge with the safety net of GP oversight.

This multi-disciplinary team will also provide support for future appraisals and revalidations on a local basis.
