Chris Hancock
Healthcare support worker
I'm in for the pay enhancements.
I’ve been working in Urgent Primary Care for six years. Before this, I was in the marines for 22 years. I now work as a healthcare support worker and cover a number of roles. Although I’m trained as a healthcare driver taking GPs and paramedics to home visits, I also work on reception for the treatment centre, and take calls from the professional line if needed.
The main reason why I decided to work in Urgent Primary Care was the flexibility it offered. I was able to work around childcare, and pursue other personal and professional ventures too, which I still benefit from today. I was motivated by the idea that I would be doing something different while making a difference too. There is also the financial reward, as the pay is better than in-hours work.
