Kate Macnamara
Senior 111 pharmacist
I'm in to develop new skills.
I decided to work in Urgent Primary Care because I wanted a new opportunity, and it was an area I had never worked in before. I knew that it would provide me with an opportunity for career development and to be able to deal with patient cases I had never experienced before.
I’m really glad that I took the opportunity to work in Urgent Primary Care as I have developed lots of new skills and have learned more about myself and my capabilities. By day, I am a full-time pharmacist in a GP practice, then I work as a senior pharmacist in Urgent Primary Care, where I also help support with training and management of the pharmacists who work in the area.
In Urgent Primary Care, I feel that I am a valued team member as we’re all seen as equally important as one another, regardless of our job title. I have also been able to train and develop new skills such as telephone triage, deliver consultations and treating patients of different kinds, which has boosted my confidence when working as a pharmacist in my day job.
