Urgent Primary Care (OOH)

Dr Saloni Jain case study

Dr Saloni Jain

Freelance GP

I'm in for the flexibility around childcare.

I have been working in Urgent Primary Care for 10 years as a freelance GP and I have recently been appointed as a clinical lead for clinical governance.

I first heard about the service while training as a GP registrar. I then went to work in practices across the region before becoming a part-time partner in a surgery. I decided to work in Urgent Primary Care because it meant that I could care for my children while my husband worked full-time. I was able to choose my hours and not have to take any work home with me.

If you want a job that’s flexible and you can choose your fixed hours, one that pays well, and where you don't have to take any admin work home with you at the end of your shift, then a role in Urgent Primary Care is definitely something to look into. It’s a nice change to in-hours work, as there’s always a mix of patients to see, and you get to work with other health professionals you wouldn’t usually work with during in-hours. It gives a great work life balance as I’m able to do telephone triage from home too.
