Simon Wellington
Call handler
I'm in as every day is a different challenge.
I was motivated to work in Urgent Primary Care because I wanted to do a job where I could help people. I was working in the tourism industry but I was attracted to working in Urgent Primary Care because of the flexible hours and it worked (and still does) around my lifestyle.
I’ve never worked somewhere where there’s been so much support and a great team spirit – we really do work as a team. Of course, the pay enhancements working evenings and weekends is a bonus too, as it means I can work less hours but for more pay.
If you’re thinking about working in Urgent Primary Care – apply. You don’t need to have a medical background to become a call handler as they give you a six-week intense training course before you start. I enjoy working in Urgent Primary Care as it’s really rewarding when you’ve helped someone, and you know you’ve made a difference.
