Urgent Primary Care (OOH)

Sue Tapper case study

Sue Tapper

Dispatcher / Receptionist

I'm in for the extra money.

I work part-time as a dispatcher/receptionist in Urgent Primary Care. My role involves meeting and greeting patients, and ensuring the doctors have everything they need to carry out their role properly during their shift. Dispatching involves thinking strategically by sending cars and visits to the right patients to make sure it’s sensible and logical for everyone.

Working in Urgent Primary Care is completely different to working in-hours. I enjoy the patient contact that comes with working in Urgent Primary Care, and I love knowing that I can leave my work at the door and there is no admin work for me to take home. We have a great team – everyone gets on well and we all have each other’s backs and provide support where we can.

If you’re considering a career in Urgent Primary Care, I say go for it! The hours are great and the money is good. I originally started working in Urgent Primary Care to support my daughter through university, but I continue to work there because of the great work culture, plus it helps pay for my holidays and handbags!
